Why would you like to visit Hawaii’s biggest island?
Dubbed “The Big Island” in light of the fact that all other Hawaiian Islands could fit inside of the big island twice over! So what’s all the to do about? Well if being home to two of the world’s active volcano, Kilauea and Mauna Loa, doesn’t get you fired up, that’s okay because we are just getting warmed up!
If diving into an active volcano isn’t your thing, perhaps going up is the ticket. The Big Island also has in store two of the world’s most exhilarating mountains! And you have to be able to find a comfortable temperature, as The Big Island contains 11 climate zones of the total 13 on the entire planet. Isn’t that amazing?
What to do, what to do?! – No Matter what you decide to do, you can know that anytime of the year is a good time to visit the big island because temperatures on the island stay fairly constant throughout the year, usually you will experience weather in the 70’s and 80’s all year round in Hawaii.

Green Sand Beach
Green Sand Beach is an absolutely gorgeous place to visit while you are on the the Big Island. This amazing beach is sure to stay in your memories forever. So if natural beauty is what you came for, Hawaii will certainly not disappoint!
Hawaii National Parks
Here is a wonderful map which located each of the Big Island of Hawaii’s National Parks. These are great places to visit, and you can even stop and see one of the mountains, and or volcanoes on your trip around the island.
The map above might help aid you a bit in your travels. This breaks down the parts of the big island into distinct areas for you to visit as well as shows where the Hawaii Volcano is in relation to the other areas on the map. I included this because it seemed like a very easy map that points out the different areas you may want to become familiar with for your vacation to the Big Island.
You can find Rainbow Falls in the town of Hilo located off of Waianuene Avenue at the Wailuku River State Park. Rainbow Falls are encompassed by the Hawaii State Park system and as such are a free attraction for anyone to visit and enjoy. The waterfall here boasts an eighty foot drop to the basin.
Also located in Wailuku River State park are Peepee falls which provide water to the famous pools of water which are referred to as Boiling Pots. The reason for this name is you can watch the water bubble as if it were actually boiling. This is a beautiful area to visit but please remember to use caution when traveling these places as you can sometimes end up isolated with no help immediately available. Stay with your group, or simply pay attention and be careful, good advice whenever you are in an unfamiliar locale.
